SAC airstrikes, shelling and drone bombs kill 17 civilians, injure 41, damage 85 buildings in Nawngkhio, Mong Mit and Mogok townships<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0Between February 6 and March 7, 2025, SAC airstrikes, artillery and drone attacks killed 17 civilians, injured 41, and damaged 85 buildings \u2013 including 2 temples, a hospital and a school \u2013 in areas of Nawngkhio, Mong Mit and Mogok townships controlled by the Ta\u2019ang National Liberation Army (TNLA).<\/p>\n

The heaviest SAC airstrikes took place in mid-February near Taungkham in southern Nawngkhio township where SAC troops were fighting to regain control of their bases, even while Chinese-brokered talks were being held between the TNLA and SAC in Kunming. On February 19, just a few days after the talks ended without result, SAC bombed Nawngkhio town, including the hospital, killing 3 civilians and injuring 4 others.<\/p>\n

SAC drone attack on Oom Mark Dee temple near Chinese pipelines<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

SAC air and artillery attacks in Nawngkhio have continued to take place close to China\u2019s oil and gas pipelines. On February 20, SAC carried out a drone attack on Oom Mark Dee village, one kilometer from the pipelines, which burned down Oom Mark Dee temple. On the same day, SAC shelled Sarmser and Bant Bwe villages, in the vicinity of the pipelines, damaging three houses. On February 24, in the afternoon, SAC dropped two bombs on Pyae Phyo Restaurant in Oom Mark Dee village, damaging the restaurant and five houses. From March 5 to 7, SAC aircraft and drones again dropped bombs on Oom Mark Dee village, causing ten houses to burn down.<\/p>\n

While most of the SAC airstrikes took place in Nawngkhio township, two of the airstrikes targeted mining areas of Mong Mit and Mogok. On February 10, at 1 am, a SAC Y-12 jet fighter dropped over 20 bombs on a gem mining site three kilometers northwest of Mogok town, which killed five civilians and injured 20 other people. On February 20, at 8 pm, a SAC jet fighter dropped a 500-pound bomb on a gold mining site at Wae Paung village 40 kilometers west of Mongmit town, killing three villagers, injuring seven, and damaging ten houses and a school.<\/p>\n
